Cupronickel, U.S., Feuchtwanger Cent, 1837
German Silver was basically todays cupronickel. Lewis Feuchtwanger, its inventor, saw the value of nickel and was a major player in early American coinage. He was a German Jewish immigrant to the U.S. in 1829, whose family names comes from Feuchtwangen, Bavaria.
