Armenian Consonant Groups

Armenian Stops, Affricate Grouping. English has only two groups phonemically: voiced and voiceless, typically aspirated. Armenian has three: voiced, soft voiceless, hard voiceless i.e., aspirated; in front, mid and back place of articulation. Voiced: 1,2,3,4--b,d,g,dz. Soft voiceless: 5,6,7,8. Hard voiceless: 9,10,11,12--p,t,k,ts. The stops first in each group by place of articulation, the affricate last.
