1933 US Double Eagle gold piece. Stuart Weitzmans, long owned by Egyptian King Farouk, sold in 2021 for 18.9 million dollars. Only a dozen or so are believed to have survived the meltdown of over 400,000 minted

before Roosevelt took us off the gold standard and made it a crime to own them. Earlier, less rare, legal copies typically sell in 2025 in the 3,000 dollar range.

In 1933 there were 48 states, not 46, so there should be 48 stars on the obverse of this coin but if the design was held over from 1909, there could be just 46. Arizona and New Mexico were admitted in 1912, Alaska and Hawaii in 1959.
