Jewish Zodiac

The Second Commandment proscribes idol worship and any representation of its idols. The first Hebrew zodiacs appeared in the Ptolemaic Greek era, the only nearly complete surviving example being the mosaic floor of the 6th century Beit Alpha synagogue near Beit Shean, Israel. The main zodiac here, with Hebrew names of signs and associated "planets" is modern.
